The Conservation Seed Program has several caveats that members need to understand regarding seed availability and order size.

.)  The availability of seed depends on the seed variety and the amount that goes unsold by commercial seed companies.

.)  RR Corn may be shipped when available to VA by the pallet (approximately 66 bags).  All other seed varieties must be shipped by the half a truck load (approximately 8 pallets).  In order to place a request for seed varieties other than RR Corn, VA members must cumulatively request approximately 8 pallets worth of that particular seed variety.

.) If the amount of seed requested is close to making a full pallet or a half a truck load, the request will be placed and VANWTF will try to facilitate the additional bags among participants.

.) VANWTF offers all seed varieties at the time of requesting to ensure members can take full advantage of all potentially available seed, BUT seed variety availability is unknown until usually mid to late March.  There may be cases where a member requests a seed variety (e.g., RR soybeans) but it is unavailable at the time of shipping or there were not enough requests to ship a half truck load.   In these instances, members will not be charged for the unavailable seed they requested.  Members are still required to pick up other varieties of seed they requested even if one variety is not available.

.)  Members can request no more than 5 bags of RR corn.  The 5 bag RR Corn limit is imposed by the manufacturer (not VANWTF) and is the same for all states.  The Member can request more than 5 bags of the other seeds offered.

.)  If your chapter is placing a request on behalf of its members, please submit your request to cmccurdy@nwtf.net and provide name, address, email, phone number of the chapter member responsible for picking up the seed at a distribution location.
